Apple Health nutrition sync
Choose Hammr primary, Apple Health primary, or combine so your diary and Health app don’t double-count calories.
Hammr can write meals and water to Apple Health, and it can read nutrition other apps wrote. That is useful if you also use a dedicated food logger. It is a mess if both apps count the same burrito twice.
Turn writes on or off
- Open Settings.
- Open Nutrition / Apple Health settings.
- Toggle HealthKit writes for meals and water.
Completed Hammr workouts can also write active energy so Activity Rings move. That is separate from food.
Reconciliation modes
When another app (for example MacroFactor) also writes nutrition to HealthKit, pick a mode:
| Mode | Use when |
|---|---|
| Hammr primary | Hammr is your real diary; ignore other apps’ food writes |
| Apple Health primary | You log food elsewhere and want Hammr to follow Health totals |
| Combine | You intentionally split logging (e.g. meals in Hammr, a snack in another app) |
A compare banner appears when Hammr and Health totals disagree so you can fix it on purpose instead of silently drifting.
Connect the wearable first
Nutrition reconciliation is independent of Recovery scores, but connecting Apple Health is still the same Settings → Connected Devices flow. See Apple Health & Oura.
