Start and finish a workout

Pick today’s session, tap Start, log sets with the rest timer, and finish for volume, calories, and PRs.

A Hammr session is the gym logger: current exercise, set counter, rest timer, next exercise. Live Activity and Apple Watch mirror it if you leave the phone in your bag.

Start from Home or Workouts

  1. Open Home and tap today’s workout mission, or open Workouts and tap the session on the calendar strip.
  2. Tap Start.
  3. Log each set (weight, reps, and RPE if you have RPE enabled in Settings).
  4. Rest while the timer runs.
  5. Complete the workout for a summary: volume, duration, calories, muscle groups, and PRs.

If you leave mid-session, resume from Home. Don’t start a second copy of the same workout.

What you can log in a session

Warm-ups, working sets, drop sets, failure sets, and supersets are all first-class. Prefill weights come from your history and today’s adaptive volume decision when Premium volume is on. Plate math rounds kg/lb so you’re not guessing plates.

During the set

  • Live PR highlights appear when you beat a record.
  • Exercise Replace (Premium) swaps an exercise if the machine is taken or you need a friendlier variation.
  • Live Activity shows the current exercise, set progress, and rest on Lock Screen and Dynamic Island.

After you finish

The summary is stored in workout history. Muscle group scores and 1RM estimates update in Analytics. Outdoor GPS sessions are a different flow — see Outdoor GPS cardio.
